IN THIS LESSON
why are computer networks important?
Computer networks are created to provide a means to satisfy a need or objective. Without computer networks, the transmission of data between devices would not be possible. The ability to streamline communication is a massive boon to the digital landscape, allowing only a connection to the internet to be able to gain access to information from any device, anywhere. This reduces the costs associated with the procurement of I/T assets by allowing resource pooling since computers are interconnected and certain assets can be shared among users. However, by interconnecting devices and sharing resources over shared network segments you open the door to possible security breaches and attacks if the proper security controls are not implemented.
